       Dr. Christopher D. Skurka is the first chiropractor on Long Island to perform MUA (Manipulation Under Anesthesia) and to be admitted to the medical staff at Northwell Health, Glen Cove Hospital, Department of Orthopedics.
       Chiropractor (Doctor of Chiropractic): As Doctors of Chiropractic, we are highly trained in the diagnosis of a wide variety of spinal conditions, which we treat and manage conservatively. Chiropractors in New York State are licensed to treat and remove vertebral subluxation complex. A subluxation is where you have a vertebra (bones that make up your spine) out of their normal position. These subluxations or misalignment of the vertebra in patients result in various painful spinal conditions. The misalignment of the vertebra is corrected by the chiropractor with an adjustment. It is this spinal adjustment that is used at Skurka Chiropractic Centers, to treat a wide variety of spinal conditions. In addition to adjustments, each patient receives a unique treatment plan that is tailored to their specific ailment.
       Dr. Christopher D. Skurka, Director of Skurka Chiropractic Centers: Dr. Christopher D. Skurka graduated from Hofstra University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. He obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1988.
       Dr. Christopher D. Skurka completed his internship at Palmer Chiropractic Clinic located in Davenport, Iowa. He completed preceptorship training in Paramus, New Jersey as part of his clinical experience. While at Palmer College of Chiropractic, he received the highly regarded Daniel Palmer Scholarship.

Dr. Christopher D. Skurka

       Dr. Christopher D. Skurka has been in practice since 1988. He has served as a committee member of the Spine Center at the Muskuletal Institute, affiliated with the former North Shore University Hospital from June 1996 through October 1998. Dr. Christopher D. Skurka has provided monthly educational presentations regarding spinal injuries as a community service to educate those attending on chiropractic evaluations, x-rays, MRI and the application of such results in the chiropractic management of patients.

       As a direct result of Dr. Skurka’s knowledge and experience, he has been deemed an expert with regard to MRI radiographic evaluation and interpretation in New York State Supreme Court. Dr. Skurka has served as an expert witness on numerous important cases. He continues to keep abreast of the latest, most recent chiropractic and medical advances through his post-graduate training. This knowledge ensures that patients at Skurka Chiropractic Centers receive the most up to date and effective care in the tri-state area.
       Dr. Jamie P. Skurka, Senior Doctor at Skurka Chiropractic Centers: Dr. Jamie P. Skurka graduated from Hofstra University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. While at Hofstra, Dr. Jamie P. Skurka received the Dorothy B. Hoag Academic Scholarship Award. He obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree with honors from New York Chiropractic College in 1990. While at New York Chiropractic College Dr. Jamie P. Skurka was a member of the Phi Chi Omega National Honors Society, National Deans List and he was an assistant director as an intern.
       Dr. Jamie P. Skurka was also a member of the Spine Center at the Musluskeletal Institute affiliated with the former North Shore University Hospital. He has and continues to lecture on Chiropractic care to the community at large, as well as highly regarded medical professionals. Dr. Jamie P. Skurka is the first Chiropractor to have been extended the invitation to lecture the entire Glen Cove Hospital Medical Staff.
       Dr. Christopher D. Skurka and Dr. Jamie P. Skurka: They are the first chiropractors granted hospital privileges at Northwell Health, Glen Cove Hospital, Department of Orthopedics. They are also members of The American Chiropractic Association, New York State Chiropractic Association and the prestigious North American Spine Society. Because of their participation in these prestigious professional associations and through regular postgraduate training, Dr. Christopher D. Skurka and Dr. Jamie P. Skurka are able to keep up with latest advances in technologies for the care and treatment of their patients.
